So how did everyone’s Father’s Day go?  Did they walk away super happy or disgruntled?  I think between the kids and I we pulled off another good year.  Roo’s painting of a lobster was the definite highlight and took pride of place. My attempt at making him finally wear jewellery paid off and he was very moved by the meaningful piece.  We designed it with a lobster for love and an anchor, as he’s our anchor and our initials are A.R.O so we put an arrow through the centre as a symbol of us and signed it on the back.

If you have a special design or doodle, we can always engrave it onto a beautiful piece of jewellery. The workshop enjoys this process as it’s lovely to be creative. It makes a really unique gift - and less permanent than a tattoo!

So, the necklace was a success, but it turned out a teen in my house is a Magpie and had it around his neck in no time. I’m not sure my husband James will ever be dripping in bling - he may just stick to just his wedding ring.

The day was going so well with a lovely meal, a game of pool, a walk on the beach, and then I ruined it slightly by taking all the men in my life to see the Take That movie ‘The Greatest Day’ at the cinema.  I thought they’d enjoy a musical but although great for me as I love all the 90’s fashion and Take That tunes it was possibly lost on them.  Hilariously we were the only people in there and it turns out I bought a dud as it is on Amazon, so we never even needed to venture out in the rain for the cinema experience. James took the opportunity to take a nap (that’s apparently a healthy option) and the boys just gave me evils until I told them they could leave.  The only positive of the whole experience was me getting my husband to pose as Ken in the Barbie doll box in the foyer.

So, at school when I was about 12, I was a huge Take That fan. My friends camped (not me, as my mum wouldn’t let me) outside Robbie Williams’ house in Stoke and his Mum made them all a bacon sarnie, and a cup of tea in the morning.  I on the other hand had a crush from afar with over 200 posters plastered up on my walls and ceiling.  It was only a small room, and every corner was covered in Robbie, Howard, and Christian Slater. Like most teenagers at that age my passions were fickle, and I soon moved onto real boys and my musical tastes changed to Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam. ( I’m not sure which my Mum preferred!). I know my Grandma wasn’t impressed when she came to stay in my room and I had swapped the wholesome boy band posters for a life-size poster of Red Hot Chilli Peppers with socks on their bits.

It had to be done, it was a rite of passage, a bit like Glastonbury.

So many friends are off on the Glastonbury pilgrimage this year with their She-Wee’s and poo gel, I, however, will once again be sitting on the sofa with a nice glass of vino watching Lizzo and Elton from the comfort of my own home.  I know I’m missing out and I always get well jel with the fabulous stories on everyone’s return but at least I won’t have a hideous 5-day hangover like them.
