What is 18ct gold plating?

Most of our silver jewellery can be plated with a thick layer (approx 1 micron) of 18ct yellow gold or 18ct rose gold.

Is your gold plating nickel allergy safe?

Our gold plated items are compliant with the Assay nickel release test (BS EN 1811:1998 and BS EN 12472) therefore they are suitable for those with nickel allergies.

Is 18ct gold plating permanent?

Gold plating can wear away overtime. This can be sped up by exposure to water, heat and certain chemicals.

If the plating on your product wears away within the first three months of your purchase we will happily re-plate the item free of charge.

How do you personalise?

There are two ways we add names, dates or words.

1, Hand stamping

2. Engraving.

Both methods are carried out in our Brighton workshop.

What is hand stamping?

We hand-stamp your personalisation in uppercase Roman alphabet letters, numbers ampersand (&), full stops (.) and commas (,).

Please note that each character is stamped by hand so each piece is unique and any variations should be appreciated as part of the design.

What hand stamped text finish should I choose?

Black finish gives a bolder, easy to read look, whereas clear finish gives a more subtle look. The black finish is achieved by filling the personalisation with specialist jewellers gilders paste.

This finish can wear away over time but we do have a Care & Repair service to bring your text back to life.

Can I personalise an item at a later date?

Yes, no problem. Some of our personalised jewellery designs can be purchased blank for personalisations to be added at a future date.

How do I clean a sterling silver necklace at home?

The safest way to clean a sterling silver necklace at home is with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth to gently remove dirt and help reduce tarnish.

To clean your necklace:

1. Create a gentle solution - Mix a few drops of mild washing-up liquid with warm (not hot) water.
   
2. Soak and clean - Leave your necklace in the solution for 10–15 minutes, then gently clean with a soft toothbrush or cloth, especially around clasps and fine details.
   
3. Rinse and dry - Rinse thoroughly under clean water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before wearing or storing.

Sterling silver may naturally develop a light tarnish over time, but this can easily be refreshed with a specialist silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.

Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish or any personalised details.
