Our #shareahug campaign goes live!

Back in the summer, we announced our unbelievably exciting partnership with Women for Women International, an amazing charity that helps women who've survived war rebuild their lives. PTD MD Alice headed out to Kosovo at the end of June to learn more about the programme that Women for Women International run out there and to keep her company, she took award winning photojournalist Hazel Thompson along with her. Hazel documented the trip through film and photos, while Alice kept a diary of her experience. Below is the incredible video Hazel has made following the trip, and which tells us much more about what W4WI do...

As you'll have seen in the video, on her return to the UK Alice set to work designing a necklace that reflected not just her experience, but more importantly that of the women she'd met while in Kosovo. It was obvious: something that symbolised an embrace, acceptance, and stood for a 'forever hug' to comfort people suffering the dislocation and isolation of war. Alice knew she wanted 100% of the profits from sales of this necklace to go straight to Women for Women International to help continue their work with women. At the start of this week, the PTD Personalised 'Share A Hug' Necklace launched - and has already proved itself a colossal hit among our customers.

 

 Last night, we threw a party in honour of our partnership with Women for Women International and the launch of our #shareahug campaign. We invited a host of bloggers and local businesses in Brighton to join us in a few drinks, as we showed off our new Share A Hug necklace and screened Hazel's fantastic film for the first time to our guests. Head jeweller, Beth, was on hand to personalise those necklaces that our gang purchased on the night - proving she's a super pro in the face of mood lighting and a few glasses of obligatory fizz!

 

  Last month, we got in touch with the lovely Lola Hoad, the talent behind LH Design here in Brighton, to help us characterise our campaign with a lick or two of her brushlettering skills. Taking inspiration from our Personalised 'Share A Hug' Necklace design, we asked her to come up with a motif to go on sweatshirts, which we'd wear throughout #shareahug week.
