Process & Tools
Depending on what shape you would like to create, there is a choice of size and shape of wax ring blank. Then we make some simple sketches to work out your ideas before starting to sculpt the wax. Using scalpels, files, cutting tools, wet and dry paper and other exciting techniques, you begin cutting into the wax to make your shape. Pieces of wax will be available to practice and test out ideas before you start. There is no right and wrong with wax carving, any marks or shapes you make can be cast when the ring gets made into its final silver form.
The class lasts two hours but the actual wax carving could take between an hour and an hour and a half. It totally depends on the size of the wax ring blank and how much detail you wish to add to the surface.
At the end of the class the wax carvings will be labelled with your name and photographed to ensure you get your very own design back. After the class your design will be sent off to be cast by our expert casting supplier to be transformed into beautiful sterling silver. Within three weeks, your ring will be delivered or available to collect in one of our stores (you choose the delivery option).
During the class, the jeweller leading the workshop will help you decide how to personalise your design. Personalisation is completely optional and free. The number of characters, font size and personalisation can be discussed during the class. When the ring has been cast our jewellers will hand-stamp your desired lettering into the ring. We will also polish the ring up to a brilliantly sparkling finish.
Optional 9ct rose or 9ct yellow gold plating is available. The cost will be between £20 and £30 depending on the size of your piece.

How long will my personalised jewellery order take?
All personalised jewellery orders have a 14 day turnaround, including delivery within the UK. Many of our popular designs can be upgraded to our three (working) day express service at an additional cost.
Can I personalise an item at a later date?
Of course, some of our personalised jewellery items including the popular Russian Ring and Family Names necklaces, bangles and rings can be purchased blank for personalisations to be added at a future date.
I need an item urgently, what can I do?
If an item is required urgently, please look out for our three day make and dispatch option on the product page. If there is no option on the product page, then this item is not likely available on a speedy turnaround. Items sent on a three day turnaround will be delivered via a special delivery service.
Can I return/exchange my item?
Goods that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements are non-refundable, unless faulty. All other items can be returned if they are in their original packaging within 30 days.
Can I cancel an order?
Once an order is placed online it will usually proceed into the workshop the following day. It is advised that any cancellations need to be made before the order enters the workshop.
My item has not arrived on time, what should I do?
Once an order has been dispatched via Royal Mail you should recieve a confirmation shipping email. Your order can be tracked here http://www.royalmail.com/ We have heard that on occasion, some lazy posties don’t always leave a delivery card, if the item is too big to fit through the post box they will usually return it to the depot or leave it in a safe place. If the item is not received by the confirmed date, please check with the local depot. Very occasionally items may be delayed by postal services, particularly during peak times such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day etc. Please be assured we will dispatch the item in time but unfortunately have no control or are able to influence the postal system in any way. Please be patient if this is the case and keep tracking the item via the Royal Mail website.
