Silver Ring Making Workshops are GO

We're so excited to launch our Personalised Silver Ring Making Workshops which give our customers the opportunity to create their very own designs. We think these classes make an awesome hen party activity, the perfect birthday pressie for the budding creative, and are a great way to add another string to your bow. Read on to find out more about how our ring workshops work and what you can expect to get out of them...

 

Make a ring from scratch? How?

We use what's called a wax ring blank as the starting point. This is basically a lump of wax with a hole in it, which you'll carve, sculpt and fashion using a range of tools and utensils (we'll provide these). Draw up a few sketches and ideas on paper and go from there. Don't worry: we'll make sure that there are a few bits of wax for you to practice getting a feel for the technique on before you dive in!

 

Wait, what? Wax? Are you magicians or something? Where's the silver?

Aha! There is an element of magic to this bit, as it goes. Once you're happy with the way your wax ring is looking, we'll then get it cast in solid silver for you. Simple! So you won't literally be carving and working silver at your workshop, but you will end up with a gorgeous piece of highly polish precious metal you've designed. We organise this process in the workshop back in Brighton, and so we'll post your finished piece out to you after you've attended the class. Prefer rose or yellow gold? We can gold plate your ring for you too!

 

 

Who'll be taking the class?

One of our experienced jewellers from our Brighton workshop will be leading you in class, making sure you understand every step of the process before you begin and as you're going along. 

How long do the classes last?

Each workshop is two hours, and we estimate that you'll need about an hour to and hour-and-a-half carving time - but this depends on the size of your ring and what sort of detail and design you're aiming for! 

Ooh! Can I get my ring personalised?

Yes, you can. We'll hand-stamp your ring for you once it's been cast in silver. Just let us know in class if this is something you'd like us to do for you and we'll gauge how many letters and what font size will fit on your design.

 

 

But what if I'm not much of a crafty type?

No matter! The point is to have fun. We don't require you to have any knowledge of jewellery making and don't expect you have any skills in this area either. We'll make sure that anyone who's in need of a little more support and help during class will get it.
